Learn more about becoming a caregiver

A rewarding job.

Choosing to become a full-time in-home caregiver is a serious responsibility and not for everyone. However, those who already care for a frail family member or have experience with assisting the elderly or disabled may already know that caregiving can also be a tremendously rewarding experience.

Our job at Caregiver Homes is to provide the support a caregiver needs to be successful, and when possible, help coordinate services that help keep clients safe and in their communities.

When you choose to be a caregiver with us, you choose new friends and professionals you can count on.

Steps to becoming a Caregiver Homes caregiver:

Step 1: Telephone interview with our Intake Coordinator - plan on 15-30 minutes
Step 2: Complete an application
Step 3: Credentialing (and reference check) includes a criminal background check—CORI
Step 4: Personal interview in your home and a professional home assessment to make certain the environment is safe and meets the client’s needs
Step 5: Sign a Caregiver Agreement

If you are accepted to be a Caregiver Homes caregiver for a family member, then we begin together, after your family member has had a clinical assessment and been accepted to our program.

If you have applied to be a non-family caregiver, we will begin the process of matching you with a compatible client.

NOTES: Adult Foster Care regulations do not allow spouses and legal guardians to be eligible as caregivers. All caregivers are required (and encouraged) to take occasional time off from caregiving. Caregiver Homes will work with the caregiver to identify alternate caregivers who can provide care when the primary caregiver takes vacation or is unable to provide care.
